Scholarship – Faircourt Dental Smile Studio

Are you are a high school senior looking to pursue your dream of becoming a dentist?   You are eligible to win a $500 scholarship toward your future.

Dr. Mary Sue Stonisch has practiced dentistry at Faircourt Dental Smile Studio in Grosse Pointe Woods for over 32 years.  Passionate about her career, she mentors students weekly who are interested in this profession.  As a way of giving back, she  gives a $500 scholarship annually to recognize a student of senior status pursuing a career in dentistry.

The winning candidate will be chosen based on their high academic achievement, community involvement, and exceptional leadership qualities  along with an essay on their reasons for choosing this career path and steps taken to  prepare themselves for it.

The scholarship criteria is below.

Dr. Stonisch’s passion for her field and desire to encourage others is the purpose behind this gift.  The Faircourt Dental Smile Studio awards a scholarship to a college-bound high school senior based on demonstrated academic achievement and an express interest in pursuing a dental education.

The student eligible for scholarship must be a graduating high school senior who intends to continue their education at a four-year college or university and then at an accredited dental school. Consideration will be given to the student’s academic achievement and community service record. Students should submit a scholarship application on the criteria listed below.

Students must continue to attend classes and maintain no lower than a 3.0 grade-point average (or equivalent) through graduation.

The Faircourt Dental Smile Studio Dental Scholarship awarded will be a one-time payment of $500.

The application deadline is May 15, 2019. Applications will not be accepted after this day. The Faircourt Dental Smile Studio Dental Scholarship uses the postmarked date to determine mailed entries.  Scholarship will be awarded Tuesday May 29, 2019 at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial during the annual Evening of Good Health.  All applicants are encouraged to join this event.

Renewal Process
This scholarship is not renewable. Only high school seniors intending to enroll in a four-year college or university and then attend an accredited dental school are eligible to apply.

Application Information
Please state your name, attending high school and GPA along with an essay describing your inspiration and reason(s) of wanting to pursue a career in dentistry.  A recommendation letter from a high school teacher is advised,  On another page, please list your community service. The recommended format for the essay should be 12-point, Times New Roman font, double-spaced, one-inch margins.
